Safe Zone (red dotted line)

Text and other design elements must be placed within the safe zone. Placing them directly next to, or outside the safe zone will likely result in them being trimmed off in production.

Full Bleed (black border line)

To ensure that your background image covers the entire design space without leaving a white border, make sure that your design fully-extends to the full-bleed boundary.
Design Guidelines Be sure your design continues to the edge of the Full Bleed line (green line). Designs that do not extend to the Full Bleed line will most likely end up with white strips along the edge of the product after it has been cut. Text and other design elements you do not wish to have to have cut off must be within the Safe Zone (red line). Items outside of the Safe Zone may be cut off during the cutting process.
Spot UV Documentations:

Spot UV allows the customer to put UV gloss coating on some parts of the cards while leaving other parts uncoated with a matte finish. Spot UV is defined per side of a card. It should be saved as a 1 bit (2 colors black and white) tiff file. The black pixels on a Spot UV file represent the regions that will be coated.

Ensure that you create and save your file to fit our Spot UV file specs.

File Specs:

Spot UV files should have 1 bit color depth. This is represented in Photoshop as a "Bitmap image mode". Spot UV files should have 300 dpi (300 dpi vertical and horizontal). Size in inches is 3.627" wide and 2.127" high (1088 x 638 pixels), 4.25" wide and 6.25" high (1875 x 1275 pixels) for the small postcards, and 5.627" wide and 8.627" high (1688 x 2588 pixels) for the large postcards. Your tiff file should be set to "uncompressed" when saving as a tiff in Photoshop.

Converting other formats to 1 bit tiff files:

  1. Open the file in Photoshop.
  2. Convert to Bitmap image mode. (1 bit, b&w)
    a) If file is not in "Grayscale" image mode you will need to convert it to gray scale before converting to bitmap.

    b) When converting to bitmap image mode you will be asked to select "Resolution and Method". Select "50% Threshold" for method and "300 pixels/inch(dpi)" for resolution.
  3. Save as a tiff file. Select "no compression".
