A Florida graphic design student is getting some national exposure for her work thanks to a recent contest for the Kimberly Clark corporation. A Miami Herald report features 23-year-old Paola Lagiola, a native of Venezuela who attends Savannah College of Art and Design. The report said that Lagiola won $5,000 in the "Con Kleenex Expresa tu Hispanidad" contest, or "With Kleenex Express Your Hispanic Culture."
Lagiola and two other winners will reportedly have their designs used nationwide on Kleenex boxes during Hispanic Heritage Month, which starts in September.
Members of the public were reportedly able to vote for their favorite designs, and the entries were also judged by a panel that included artists and designers.
Participating in such contests is one way that young graphic designers can build up their portfolios while potentially winning money and credibility or preparing for careers in custom printing or related fields.
