1. What are the file specifications for greeting cards?

Large Greeting Cards Before Fold Full Bleed Specs: 8.627"X11.127" (just like our letterheads and brochures)

After fold = 8.5"X5.5" Greeting Card

The blue line (where the product will be slitted - the paper will be cut half way so the paper can fold w/o cracking the ink or paper) = the fold line is 1669 pixels or 5.5635 inches down / across long end of the paper - that is the 'center' line.

**Keep in mind - the 'center' is not directly the center of a design due to our cutting tolerance.

Small Greeting Cards Full Bleed Specs: 5.627"X8.627" (just like our large postcards!!! )

After fold = 5.5"X4.25" Greeting Card

The blue line (where the product will be slitted - the paper will be cut half way so the paper can fold w/o cracking the ink or paper) = the fold line is 1294 pixels or 4.3135 inches down / across long end of the paper - that is the 'center' line.

**Keep in mind - the 'center' is not directly the center of a design due to our cutting tolerance.

2. What are the folding guidelines for brochures?

Keep in mind, there is a 1/16th of an inch cutting tolerance as well as a 1/16th of an inch folding tolerance, which may cause the image to shift after print, cut, and fold. We recommend having a gradient or solid color background for a better final product.

Checklist:

The document size of the file must be 8.627"X11.127" or 2588 X 3338 pixels. All text or images need to be within the safe zone 8.373"X10.873".

Tri-fold Brochures
For the inside of the brochure, place your guidelines at 3.718" (left panel), 3.696" (center panel), and 3.586" (right panel).

For the outside of the brochure, please place your guidelines at 3.586" (left panel), 3.696" (center panel) and 3.718" (right panel).

The final product will be cut down to an 8.5"X11" brochure for shipment.

Z-fold Brochures
For the inside of the brochure, place your guidelines at 3.705" (left panel), 3.705" (center panel), and 3.705" (right panel).

For the outside of the brochure, please place your guidelines at 3.705" (left panel), 3.705" (center panel) and 3.705" (right panel).

3. How do I determine what way my cards need to be flipped?

Please view our Card Orientation page located here. CARD ORIENTATION If you are planning to fold our business card and post card products in any way, please email or call us to verify the correct orientation for folding. However, we do not recommend folding due to ink chipping from wear and tear.

4. What are the file specifications for all products?

At Overnight Prints we allow printing to the edge of the products and we take pride in having the tightest cutting margins available. These margins are 1/8" to 1/16" and are named full-bleed (green line) and safe zone (red line) .

Trim Marks: The product will be cut on the trim mark (blue line), however the cut may shift up to 1/16 of an inch in any direction. Due to this shift Overnight Prints does not recommend borders of any type.

Full Bleed: If you wish to have colored backgrounds or images continue to the edge of the product they must continue past the trim marks to the full bleed margin. If they do not continue to the full bleed margin you most likely will end up with white strips along the edge of the product due to our cutting tolerance.

Safe Zone: Text or any other elements you want to guarantee not to be trimmed off must be placed within the safe zone. If they are placed directly next to the trim mark and the cutting is off but within tolerance, the text will be chopped off. Due to our cutting process and tolerance we do not recommend borders of any kind. By our policy we are protected to cut 1/16' outside or inside the Trim Marks.

5. I have my files designed and saved as a .DOC. What do I do now?

Please save your doc file(s) out to PDF, then email us for adjustments. We suggest converting your file(s) through www.pdfonline.com. Saving the doc files as PDFs enables us to view the file exactly how you designed it. Your layout, images, and fonts are embedded in the file. To save the files out to PDF simply go to FILE, then scroll down to EXPORT AS PDF, or SAVE TO PDF. Name the file, and email the PDF as an attachment to service@overnightprints to be adjusted for upload. We will adjust the file, then email you by the next business day the completed file for you to upload onto our website to place your order.

6. What files do you support?

We accept 300dpi TIF, PDF, JPG, PNG, EPS and AI (Version 8 or lower). Please do not submit transparent files or multi-layered files as they cannot be processed. Please submit flattened files under 50 MBs per side. To decrease file size, we recommend LZW compression.

7. Why is my Illustrator file uploading off center?

When creating your Illustrator file you must create a white background layer that completely fills the full bleed size of the file. This will prevent the file from cropping to a different file size.

8. Does my custom design meet the specifications?

Uploaded files must fill the entire area to the full bleed dimensions. Please view our GUIDELINES. What you see on the preview is what will be printed. Please view our MOST COMMON MISTAKES on what is considered a correct upload versus an incorrect upload. Keep in mind the preview does not represent the actual size of the card after print.

10. Why aren’t my fonts viewing correctly?

Depending on the program you are using, you must ensure all text and images are embedded or outlined.

11. Is there a preferred font size I should use for my self-inking stamp?

You should use 12 point or higher in all of your fonts. This will allow for the rubber to distinguish between characters and increase the readability of your stamped image.
